WHO CAN PLAY

The Duffers Hockey League is a non-contact adult recreational ice hockey league in the Lower Mainland of British Columbia, Canada.

The league is for hockey players who want structured league play that is competitive and sportsmanlike. Fighting, overly aggressive play and verbal abuse is not tolerated. Player enjoyment and safety is a league priority.

The league is made up of novice to intermediate players who have taken adult learn to play hockey training, played pickup or minor hockey. The league is also popular with skilled players who prefer less aggressive hockey. Teams in the league have been formed from existing players in the league, pickup, corporate groups and individual players who register with the league. Individual players are assigned to existing teams that require additional players before new teams are formed.

Players must be 19 years old to play in the league. Most league players are between 25 and 50 years old. Teams generally have players of varied age and skill and are placed in divisions of 6 to 8 teams of similar skill level.

WHERE AND WHEN

The winter season starts early September and runs to the end of March. Games are played mostly on Saturdays and Sundays with the occasional weekday evening. (Labour Day and Easter are excluded).
